Argh! I missed a week!

Hey all! I missed posting last week! In my defense, I did work at my day job every day, so I was unable, or lacked the energy when able, to write. I also had extra kids for the weekend, and a couple of friends came over to craft and chat. It was nice, but I still didn't get a "day of rest" until today. And then I was resting so much, I almost forgot to write!
Now, if I was was one of those really organized bloggers, I would have posts written out in advance, with the schedule taking care of posting them when they were supposed to drop. And yet, here I am, 9pm on a Tuesday night, writing up a post. Ah well. I have tried to have posts planned in advance, but by the time I get to writing them, I don't want to write what I planned. Typical, haha! So anyway...
I haven't been resting on my laurels, no not me! I have one sock almost done for my friend Lindsay, and the last pussyhat has been cast on for my boss. I should have that hat done this week, to be honest. The yarn is Manos del Uruguay, and it's all right. The color is this dusty rose pink, which is pretty. The issue I have is that the yarn is a kind of handspun that goes from thin to thick, and so it has this uneven issue. If I were doing a chunky cowl, it would probably work better, but I'm using it on this hat, and it looks kinda weird to me.
I am also seeing this in the rib part, so we shall see how the stockinette section looks. All in all, the yarn is easy to work with, and moves pretty easily over my metal dpns.
So, making a pair of knee high socks is a bit easier than I thought it would be. She sent me her leg and foot measurements, and luckily the pattern I have works really well with her legs. I am a tiny bit concerned with the foot length, as the pattern calls for me to start the toe a little sooner than I think I want to. So, we're going to hope that my winging it after this point works! If not, I will have to remake the silly things. The bonus, though, is that I get to see her personally in June in order to give her the socks! We are going to be in Texas for my brother in law's wedding, and she happens to live near where we are going to be! Yay!
I love self striping yarn and rainbows
So... I have this friend, practically a sister. Her name is Sara, and she can make jewelry. She has made me at least 2 pairs of earing, and a matching necklace. I haven't taken a picture of the necklace and earrings, though, since it's late and I'm tired, haha!. However, she made me a bunch of stitch markers. They are so cool!! She found some dragon wing charms, and whipped me up a set of 5 markers, and only charged $10. Then, because she loves me, she threw in some tree medallion markers too.
Like them? Want some? Let me know, and I can hook you up with an awesome artist. Seriously!
So, I have been looking to really get better at making designs of my own. I finally purchased the Knitwear Design Workshop book through https://www.alibris.com/. Got it for a sweet deal ($13 for book and shipping!), so now I don't have to keep checking it out of the library. It was used, but in decent shape, and has all it's pages, so that's all I really need. So...much...math...in...design. So much. *whimpers*
did I mention the maths??
Well, that is what I have been up to. Lots of knitting, and some crocheting, oh, and a haircut today, because dang, I was a bit shaggy! I look purty now!
don't mind the bathrobe

Happy Crafting everyone!
